Et pourtant, c'est le pari fou lancé par Alfred Gough et Miles Millar (créateurs de Smallville) avec cette nouvelle série Into the Badlands. A la croisée des genres, mélangeant assidument kung-fu, dystopie et western, cette série est vraiment inédite, présentant un univers vraiment novateur et marquant un tournant dans l'histoire de la chaîne AMC, puisqu'elle a commandé directement six épisodes sans avoir mis en avant un pilote. Une double prise de risque donc pour une série atypique et qui tient toutes ses promesses avec cette toute petite première saison. Il est difficile de résumer Into the Badlands en peu de ligne, tant l'univers et l'environnement sont riches et novateurs. Ambiance post-apocalyptique qui voit l'humanité régresser avec aucune trace de haute technologie, cette série propose quelque chose de singulier et qui rompt complètement avec les éléments que l'on connait sur la dystopie et les mondes post-apocalyptique. En gros, les badlands sont des territoires gouvernés par sept barons, qui ont chacun des clippers, des tueurs surentrainés.

I'm not sure all of these are going to be slamming into each other at the same time this season, but a few of them certainly will be, and that will be a Lord of the Rings -level battle sequence when that does happen. Only a show like Game of Thrones could create hype with running times alone, but I'm certainly more excited about the new season now that I see how much time these episodes are getting.
