I was amazed at Barbra, as she doesn't sing in this movie, and her scenes are intense and raw. They're filled with the drama of the young girl of yesteryear trying to get all of her anger out. Yet, her parents seem to not pay attention, or listen. Great supporting cast, however, it's Barbara that carries the whole show! Loved this movie!!! La madre de Chaja también padece un trauma post-guerra, y es el de vivir para las labores del hogar, principalmente haciendo pasteles. Dentro de los pequeños que Chaja tendrá que cuidar se encuentra Simsha, un hermoso niño pelirrojo de cuatro años de edad que no habla, la madre cansada de hacer lo posible porque Simsha hable, desiste esperando que algún día pueda escuchar palabras de su hijo. Este pequeño llama particularmente la atención de Chaja, quien constantemente le repite el nombre de las cosas para que pueda finalmente desarrollar el habla, sin embargo cual es su sorpresa al descubir que el pequeño Simsha habla estando a solas... Ante la intriga del porque sólo con ella pronunciaba palabras, Chaja empieza a tenerle especial afecto y analizando el comportamiento del pequeño descubre que es como una forma de coraza en contra de la inflexibilidad del padre quien es un hombre estricto y muy poco expresivo.
