'X-Men: Dark Phoenix' and 'Terminator: Dark Fate' 20th Century Fox and Paramount However misguided it was to make a second adaptation of the same comic arc that was previously adapted in X-Men: The Last Stand, with a Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) whom audiences barely knew, Simon Kinberg's X-Men: Dark Phoenix is merely okay. Now that it's out on DVD and Blu-ray, you're going to hear a lot of chatter arguing that it wasn't that bad or got a bum rap. It is well-acted, serves as an okay finale to the 19-year film franchise and features at least one great action sequence (a smackdown on a dimly lit city street). It's better than X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: Apocalypse. Dark Phoenix 's financial failure was not entirely related to its perceived quality, but also to the quality of X-Men: Apocalypse. Will Terminator: Dark Fate pay for the sins of Terminator: Genisys? As someone who liked Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and disliked both Terminator: Salvation and Terminator: Genisys, I'm assuming the Tim Miller-directed and James Cameron-produced legacy sequel (it retcons everything after Terminator 2: Judgement Day) is better than any Terminator movie we've had in the last 16 years.
