Nellie et son mari, Percival, sont très occupés par la prochaine naissance de leur bébé, et la venue des parents de Percival. Dès leur arrivée, ces derniers se heurtent à Harriet Oleson, qui a bien du mal à accepter que sa fille ait épousé un Juif. Elle insiste pour que le bébé soit élevé dans sa religion, mais Benjamin Cohen ne veut rien entendre: son petit-fils sera élevé selon la tradition juive... Laura et Almanzo réalisent très vite qu'ils ont fait une erreur en acceptant de garder leurs deux neveux. Véritables petits monstres, ils sont sur le point de détruire leur maison et leur ménage Joe Kagan, un fermier de race noire de Walnut Grove, prend son courage à deux mains et se décide enfin à faire la cour à Hester Sue, l'institutrice de l'école pour aveugles Laura quitte son emploi à cause de Mme Oleson qui ne cesse de la critiquer. Celle-ci décide de prendre sa place. Les jeunes sont choqués par les projets de Mme Oleson. Le jeune Albert Ingalls tombe amoureux de Sylvia, une jeune fille de quatorze ans.

De acuerdo con una teoría de Reddit, Django, protagonizada por Christoph Waltz (aka actor detrás del mejor villano de la historia del cine), Jamie Foxx y Leo DiCaprio, es en realidad una película dentro de una película, específicamente dentro de OUATIH, lo que significa que el legendario Calvin Candie no fue interpretado por Leonardo DiCaprio, sino por Rick Dalton, después de los eventos que vimos en la película.
