He was still creating fantastic stuff up to the end... though his imminent end was becoming the focus too. The lyrics sheet, the raw lyric sheet, for "All Apologies" is incredibly telling. Great lines, incredibly evocative lines, pivots that I've never seen anyone else make in two sentences... scratched out. Tossed away. And between the cuts the lyrics to the final song. Comprehensible for the first time to me.
